The i-COIN pilot platform will be tested in the five pilot areas of Svenljunga, North Denmark Rehna, Kotka and Malopolska within different services. The pilots will run between 2006 and 2007.

The joint platform will be prepared and personalised in each pilot area through the introduction of contents and normative specifications of that region. Citizens may use the services themselves, or can be helped by existing citizen service centre staff or other similar organisations.

Subsequent deployment within the regions will be facilitated by first deploying the services in each of the partner area, then extending those deployments to other cities in the region and then adding further services through the proven process.

The implementation of the pilots will not expand to a wide variety of services, but the portal and its services must be capable of such expansion to be functional for the subsequent deployment phases and to ensure the durability of the project.

In addition to this, all development of both software and applications in the pilots and of the portal should be done so the possibility of communication between these two is not restricted.

The WP also includes demonstration visits in the pilot areas, so that the other partners can benefit from the pilot area experiences.
